Budget airline AirAsia Bhd has enjoyed a good year of 2010 with many milestones recorded.
The airline flew 100 millionth guest in a span of only eight-and a-half years and breached the billion-ringgit mark in net profit, which was a phenomental achievement despite rising fuel costs.
Its chairman Datuk Aziz Abu Bakar said “Our affiliates in Indonesia and Thailand have shown sterling performances as well, with potential listing for both in 2011.
“This will be an exciting year for AirAsia as a group, and for investors as well,” he added.
As such the airline has awarded three awards for Best Investor Relations Company for Malaysia, Best CEO for Malaysia, and Best Investor Relations Officer for Malaysia at the anaugural Asian Excellence Recognition Awards by Corporate Governnance Asia in Hong Kong recently.
Datuk Aziz received the Best Investor Relations Company for Malaysia award on behaft of the airline.
Benyamin Ismail was named the Best Investor Relations Officer for Malaysia.
The Asian Excellence Recognition Awards recognise excellence in investor communications, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, environmental practices, and financial performance.
Recognition is awarded based on interviews conducted with investors.
